I don't understand why Bella Donna Boudreaux gets such a bad rap, 'specially amongst Rogue/ Gambit fans. She's really not the villian everyone makes her out to be. Just because she still loves her ex-husband does not make her a bad person.
Okay fine, she is an assassin. And she has tried to kill both of them in the comics. Yes, I am aware that saying she's not a bad guy sounds completely irrational after saying that.
Gambit qualifies as a villian too. Okay, a reformed villian. Sort of. Even though he joined the X_men he still goes around stealing stuff.
Bella Donna isn't really the evil tempress / psycho killer / crazy stalker everyone makes her out to be. In fact most of the time she's quite objective about her kills. And quite frankly, I don't really blame her (okay, I do), for wanting to kill Remy because she was still in love with him and didn't want to be. She was raised to kill people. Logically, from her perspective, killing Remy was a perfectly reasonable idea. There was a certain amount of logic for her blaming Rogue for her memory loss after she was absorbed and given the Elixier of Life too, so pshaw to the lot of you.
Bella Donna isn't going to kill Rogue for going after her ma-an. Besides, if Belle went after every woman that Remy expressed even the tiniest bit of interest in, scientists would have to work on making male pregnancy a reality. Just saying.
Okay that might be a slight exaggeration, but we are talking about the guy who slept with a nun. Albeit, he didn't know she was a nun at the time, but still, a nun.
I like reading fanfics where Bella Donna has some personality and depth, instead of being the two-dimensional villian who plans on murdering Rogue and chaining Remy up in her room after forcing him to marry her. Granted there's a certain amount of appeal to chaining Remy up in a bedroom... erm, did I say that aloud? *whistles innocently*
As I was saying, a psycho-ex story can be well done. The problem is that most of the time Bella Donna is reduced to a stereotypical villian with an unhealthy obsession, and usually abuses Gambit in some way. While I suspect Remy is a bit of a sucker for punishment at times, Bella Donna is a complex individual and I hate seeing her written badly all the time. Stop it!
